Newborn Screening and Genetics

September is Newborn Screening Awareness Month

Each year public health laboratories test over 97% of the four million babies born in the United States for genetic and inherited disorders. Because of their efforts, approximately 6,000 babies with severe disorders are identified annually.  This month we celebrate this great public health program!
