Statement by Scott Becker, CEO, Association of Public Health Laboratories
Silver Spring, MD, September 9, 2021 — “We are strongly encouraged by the White House COVID-19 Action Plan announced today. The plan places a priority on increasing vaccination to ensure that more Americans are protected, we keep our kids in school and our economic recovery stays on track.
“Just as important, the plan calls for increased testing for the virus, including the number of rapid tests. It will ensure the availability of affordable and convenient testing, will help us identify infected individuals and will allow interventions to prevent spread to others.
“Testing remains an important tool in our toolbox. Robust public health laboratory testing, clinical laboratory testing and rapid testing are all critical to helping slow the pandemic.
“This is a solid plan with specific actions. It is the right move at the right time.”
